We are always looking for ideas
and suggestions for new ways to communicate our programs
to our members.
Roy Damron of Cayce Lodge S.C. 462 has introduced
an enjoyable and tasteful way to raise funds for Gimme
5.
Roy is the District Chairman for Gimme 5 and wanted
to get the knowledge of the program to the Lodge level.
He is working with Jim Miller from Darlington Lodge
on ideas for raising the necessary funds. One idea
they came up with was to cook a dinner with a portion
of the cost of dinner to be credited to the members’
donation record for Gimme 5. Naturally, the key is
lots of advertisement.
The Cayce Lodge 462 held a dinner and charged $8.00.
They applied $3.00 to the cost of dinner and $5.00
went to Gimme 5. All who bought a dinner got the $5.00
turned in to Moose Charities in their name to get them
started on their obligation of $36.50 for the year
and, ultimately, $182.50 for the five years.
Roy gave a 5-7 minute presentation on Gimme 5 - what
it is and the importance of participation. He then
helped everyone fill out their forms to send in. He
explained that the individuals could send more money
to Moose Charities at any time to fulfill their obligation.
He also suggested they could start saving their money
each day to add to their next dinner’s contribution.
Cayce Lodge secured 40 new obligations (Gimme 5 donors)
at the first dinner. They plan to hold the dinners
each quarter until all have fulfilled their Gimme 5
obligations.
Our kudo’s and sincerest thanks go to Roy and Jim.
