Sincerest thanks
to a very enterprising and caring young lady by the
name of Ashley Grooms. Ashley was able to raise $150
for the Mooseheart students - for phone cards - by
selling photographs she took and doing this for a community
Leadership project that she was chairing. In addition,
her efforts also helped the local Humane Society.
Ashley is a senior attending Somis
Union High school.
It is so refreshing and heartwarming
to know we have positive and caring young adults who
want to help others (humans and those dependent upon
humans) - my compliments to Ashley, her parents Joseph
and Kristi Groom and to the members of the Ventural CA
Lodge and Chapter for their assistance

Mooseheart recognizes
and thanks Ze and Jess Frank (West Virginia Residence
Home Family Teachers) for their 30 years of dedication
to children assigned to their care.
Jesse Frank said, “There’s not a better
thing you can do in your life than to work with kids,
to help children. That’s what it boils down to, what’s
important in life is taking care of people.”
Ze Frank stated, “All of the men and
women of the Moose work so hard. They are not rich
people. They are not people with a lot of means. But
they do so much good work. It never ceases to amaze
me. People from the West Virginia Moose just came here
at Homecoming and they brought a $25,000 check to pay
for our food for the next two years. They brought a
big water jug water full of money. The bartenders gave
up their tips for one year so they could give that
money to Mooseheart. That’s the kind of story you hear
from the Moose that seem unbelievable but which happen
all the time.”.
To all members – your donations in
behalf of Mooseheart are essential to the continued
operations of our Child City & School and our City
of Contentment….please continue to help other members
understand that “what’s important in life is taking
care of people”.
Moose Charities also offers our thanks
to Ze and Jesse Frank for their 30 years of caring

“It’s all about
caring and sharing….
We are very grateful for the fundraising
efforts of High School Senior Ashley Grooms, Ventura,
California.
Ashley was Chairman for a community
service project entitled Leadership Project. When
Ashley took on this project, she immediately thought
of helping the children of Mooseheart. Ashley raised
money by selling her photos for donation. She loves
to take pictures and decided to use them to raise money
for Mooseheart and the Humane Society. And, we are
told she will be doing this again.
Having asked what would be an item
she could provide funds for – Executive Director Scott
Hart provided the following:
Our children need phone cards to stay
connected with family and friends back home. We
currently provide 900 minute phone cards to each home
so that children can call home and speak to their guardian
each week. In addition to this children enjoy
calling and talking with grandparents, aunts and uncles,
as well as older siblings not residing at Mooseheart. This
would be a great way to help the children stay in touch
with family - we could use any amount, as it is an
ongoing purchase that we need to make.
We send our sincerest and heartfelt
thanks to Ashley, her parents and to all who assisted
her to raise funds for these two very worthwhile causes.”

Thanks to all
who participated in the inaugural Frightoberfest Bike/Music/Halloween
event benefiting Mooseheart and the Rescue Riders on
October 17th in St. Charles Illinois. The Rescue Rider
and Moose volunteers really came through and each organization
came away with a considerable donation. Eric Johnson,
Dean Akey, Mike Lazuruck, Teresa McClelland, all of
the Rescue Riders, Moose Riders, Blue Knights, the
bands Fishippies, Tricoustic, and August all went above
and beyond the call. Congratulations on a successful
event! Thanks too, to the generous donations of raffle
prizes, the venue, and monetary donations to our causes.
Frightoberfest ROCKED!
